SEVENTEENTH hole
A tough, long, uphill par 3 that provides a test of your long game as well as your fitness towards the end of the round. The prevailing wind can also play havoc with your shot once you get it above the trees, often resulting in your shot dropping short of the green. A large green, that is one of the most undulating on the course and can produce some very interesting long putts.
The 17th underwent extensive remodelling in 2020 and represents the benchmark and the blueprint of all future course improvements. The mounding surrounding the green has been softened and all bunkers redesigned. There has been tree removal to the right of the green to improve turf condition and create a bail out area. The tee shot from the back tee has been opened up with hedge removal and a fairway has been created up the slope. Now one of the most aesthetic holes on the course its still capable of putting a blot on your scorecard.
FIFTH hole
One of the hardest holes on the course, this par 4 can play easy and brutal in equal measure. A dogleg right, with out of bounds right to prevent people cutting the corner, the tee shot is vital. A brave shot to the right of the fairway flirts with a bunker, but the helping slope can also mean this line is rewarded with a short iron into the green. A tee shot to long will end up in trees, you’ll find it but you have to take your medicine here and play safely out. A tee shot left brings another bunker into play, but also leaves a very long approach into the green. Not to mention you can’t actually see the shot land from the tee.
The green is large and relatively flat, but it’s holding this green on the approach shot that’s hard. A long iron in will often run through the green. Par here is a very good score.
